A couple was invited to a swanky costume party. The Mrs. got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone. He, being a devoted husband protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time being spoiled by not going. So he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, awakened without pain and, as it was still early, decided to go the party. Since her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him. She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice woman he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there. His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his current partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new babe that had just arrived. She let him go as far as he wished naturally, since he was her husband. Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed. So off they went to one of the cars and had a quickie. Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away, went home, put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior. She was sitting up reading when he came in, and she asked what kind of a time he had. He said: "Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there."

"Did you dance much?"

"I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys, so we went into the den and played poker all evening. But you're not going to believe what happened to the guy I loaned my costume to...."

I just got back from Tulsa, OK where my grandparents and youngest uncle live. We took the kids. There were some fabulous lightening storms while we were there.

I'm seeing my grandparents for the first time it seems like. They're in their late 80's. They are staunch Republicans but it was pretty easy to deflect any political talk.

The thing that bothered me was this:

My Grandma always forwards me these ridiculous e-mails. Since she's got that right bent, most of them have to do with "Anti-Obama" hysteria. Recently I received one recounting the 20+ attendents "required" by Michelle Obama and what their salaries are for example. More have to do with health care reform and how Obama wants to euthenize old people - that sort of thing.

We were in the car getting ready to go somewhere and my grandma started telling this story about how dumb government employees are giving an example of a lady that couldn't understand time zone differences. It was the exact same thing as an e-mail she had sent me earlier in the month - she was recounting it like it was personal experience! She actually BELIEVES all these ridiculous spam e-mails that people circulate and tells others about them as topic of conversation. Ugh. Wish she never figured out how to e-mail.
I could see perfect reflections of the clouds above in the water. As I was looking over the bridge I saw a loon swimming along. I glanced away and when I looked back it was gone. I was thinking to myself that I probably would have seen it fly off so where could it have gone? Just then it popped back up out of the water a good 25 feet beyond where I had last seen it...ah ha! Now I was on to what it was doing. I stood there for 15 - 20 minutes watching the loon pop up and down (I wanted to see it bring a fish up) and the clouds on the water and the sun rising. So gorgeous. I'm so lucky to live here.
